EncoreOC aims to strengthen the movement that taps into the skills and experience of those redirecting their passions to accelerate nonprofit success and improve their local communities.

Creating a Culture of Service for a Better Orange County.

To enrich people’s lives by connecting adult volunteers to nonprofit needs, mission, and service.

This vision is rooted in the concept of “generativity” and characterized by individual renewal, legacy, and social impact. We view the vast, active, and healthy baby boomer population as an untapped and critical windfall of talented human capital ready to make meaningful change. With over 766,000 residents in Orange County belonging to this vibrant demographic, EncoreOC is ideally positioned for service-minded individuals seeking their next transition in life to create purposeful solutions that make the world a better place to live for future generations. Join us in the movement and discover your Encore!

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), is a free members-only program through the Corporation of National Community Service for adults 55 and better. Established in 1971, RSVP is one of the largest senior volunteer organizations in the nation with more than 360,000 volunteers. OneOC hosts more than 800 RSVP volunteers in Orange County in education, health & nutrition and public safety programs. You choose where and how often you want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours a month to 40 hours per week.

Benefits of RSVP:
  • Personalized Matching — RSVP Orange County has over three decades of experience in matching volunteers with opportunities to meet community needs.  We are here to find you the right opportunity for your passions, skills, interests, and your schedule
  • Volunteer Insurance — excess accident medical coverage and automobile liability insurance while volunteering
  • Recognition — members are eligible for annual recognition including the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, special events and more
  • Annual Senior Symposium — gather with civilly-engaged citizens while improving and or developing skills as a volunteer
  • RSVP Communications — newsletters, e-news, website including new opportunities, events, training opportunities and more

I’m not retired yet. Can I still be an RSVP volunteer?

YES! Anyone 55+ and over is welcome to be an RSVP volunteer.

I’m not 55 yet. Can I still be an RSVP volunteer?

Unfortunately not as an active RSVP Member, but OneOC has many opportunities for volunteers; visit our online Volunteer Calendar.

I've just moved here, lost my spouse, retired, etc. and I’m not sure I want to make a commitment right now.

If you try a regular activity and it doesn't work out, just let the organization and the RSVP staff know that you’d like to change your schedule, or perhaps take a break from volunteering. You can always continue again at a later date.

I've never worked outside the home, or volunteered before. Would I be able to be an RSVP volunteer?

Yes, there’s something for everyone. Many homemakers are modest about their skills and abilities, but we know everyone has something to offer. We have opportunities that don’t require an office or workplace background. And our staff is available to help new volunteers feel comfortable and answer any questions they may have about starting up as a volunteer.

I’m restricted to my home because of health, transportation, etc. Would there be meaningful community service for me?

Sure, we have some folks involved in a “telephone reassurance” program, calling and checking in with home bound seniors. Several volunteers do special clerical and computer projects at home, or make phone calls for the RSVP program. We are also always searching for additional projects. Contact us to discuss your choices.
