Partnerships 101: Working together to achieve greater impact
How many times have you been asked on a grant application: “Please describe any partner entities with which your organization collaborates or explain the nature and benefits of the collaboration?”
Recent surveys conducted by the Bridgespan Group and the Patterson Foundation reveal that 91 percent of nonprofits engage in some form of a partnership or collaboration, which can lead to strategic alliances, program integration, cost-sharing, funding alliance, achieve shared goals, and significant community impact.

What types of partnerships are available?
How to establish a partnership?
How to involve your team in relationship development and maintenance?
How to manage and improve the collaboration?

Knowledge of methods and strategies that cultivate and maintain relationships between fund-seeking and recipient organizations and funders
1. Identify characteristics of mutually beneficial relationships between fund seekers and funders.
02. Identify strategies to determine funder-relation approaches that suit fund-seeking entities’ missions, cultures, and values. 03. Identify methods to help fund-seeking organizations create effective collaborations with other organizations appropriate to funders’ missions and goals. 04. Identify methods of relationship cultivation, communication, recognition, and stewardship that might appeal to specific funders.
Grants Manager, South County Outreach
Daily is a Grants Manager at South County Outreach, a nonprofit organization that helps prevent hunger and homelessness in Orange County. Before joining South County Outreach in 2016, she worked on the foundation side of the nonprofit industry for Change a Life Foundation and Simon Family Foundation. She has found her passion in the research and writing required for her position and takes a special interest in the needs of the Orange County community where she has been a lifelong resident. Mikelle graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy. During and after her college experience, she worked in the insurance industry until she discovered her interest in grants and nonprofit organizations. As a mother of two, her past volunteer activities included serving as PTA President, PTA Newsletter Editor, Brownie Troop Leader and various “Team Mom” positions. When she is not working, you will find her spending time with family and hitting the trails running with friends.
