The tradition of commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 in Orange County with service-oriented events and projects will continue this September when OneOC brings together volunteers, nonprofits and companies to support veterans, protect the environment, develop future leaders, educate children, and care for the county’s most vulnerable.

“By commemorating the tragedy of 9/11 with countywide service projects and events, we hope to engage and unite volunteers in activities aimed at supporting and honoring our troops and veterans, while improving the vitality of all Orange County residents,” said Daniel J. McQuaid, OneOC President and CEO.

Company sponsors for 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance include: COX, Bank of America, Experian, Edwards Lifesciences, Western Digital, Leo Brennan Family Foundation, PIMCO Foundation, Disneyland, Stonefire Grill, The Home Depot, Fluidmaster, Wells Fargo, Union Bank and Charles and Mildred Schnurmacher Foundation, Inc.

Sponsors will be sending out their employees to volunteer at service projects during the Day of Service.

“The National Days of Service are a key component of the Western Digital Foundation’s employee volunteer program.  Employees from both of our subsidiaries, WD and HGST, are committed to reaching out to help others, especially as we mark the anniversary of the tragic events of 9-11,” explains Rose Krupp, Director of Western Digital Foundation, “OneOC is a tremendous resource, providing a number of opportunities to “give back.”  The nonprofit agencies and schools who benefit from this year’s projects align with our corporate philanthropic mission to improve education, help our veterans, and end hunger and homelessness. Our partnership with OneOC allows us to make a difference and have an impact here in Orange County.”

This is the fourth year that OneOC will be hosting 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance. Since 2011, over 7,500 Orange County volunteers have participated in this national initiative in collaboration with OneOC.
