OneOC Announces Array of Volunteer Opportunities for 2013 Earth Week of Service

Hundreds of volunteers to accept call to action in spirit of Earth Day

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 8, 2013 – As Earth Day 2013 nears, OneOC, formerly Volunteer Center Orange County, is lining up companies, individuals, groups and families who want to honor our corner of the world by volunteering together to make Orange County a better place and to serve their neighbors.

“During the week of April 17 - 22, community members can express their concern and appreciation for Orange County’s environment by taking part in an Earth Day-related project,” said Daniel J. McQuaid, OneOC president and CEO. “ OneOC is partnering with dozens of nonprofits and schools to provide opportunities for volunteers to clean beaches, plant and tend gardens, harvest produce, teach children how to be environmentally conscience, and to perform others tasks for a cleaner, greener Orange County.”

Corporate and foundation sponsors that have supported OneOC’s STEM and Youth Service-Learning and Earth Day initiative include Western Digital, State Farm and Charles and the Mildred Shnurmacher Foundation, Inc.

Days of Service partners include Cox Communications, Bank of America, PIMCO Foundation, Experian , Deutsche Bank, Peter and Michelle Duncan, and Target.

“Cox is honored to be the Presenting Media Partner of Days of Service,” said Cox Communications Manager of Community Relations Jessica Barbier.  “We believe in giving back to the communities we serve, and are proud to partner with OneOC to provide the opportunity for other families and businesses to do the same.”
